About the Artist
As a 50-year "veteran" tourist of Mount Desert Island, I continue to delight, annually, in Maine's natural beauty, wonders, & vitality. My subject matter is wide-ranging & eclectic. Abstract geometries, light & shadow, reflections, & textures figure prominently in the images, which include seascapes, rural landscapes, flora & fauna, street photography, architecture, pareidolic denizens of nature, & portraits. My photographs are meant to provoke a narrative & establish a memory based on my personal vision—how I view what is a unique instant in time. Typically, at the moment of “capture”, I have edited away extraneous details & even the context of the image. On a photo-shoot, I am unencumbered by bulky equipment, rather using a small, high-end camera that can be instantly retrieved & activated. A tripod, if needed, will be minimalist—e.g., ad hoc shims of coins, pebbles, credit cards. My operational motto is: “See what I see, in the city & beyond.” My photographs hang in private collections in Maine, Vermont, New York, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, Washington State, Germany, and Italy.
