About the Artist

Art photographer John Alphonse is a multi-generation Maine native who works in abstract, scenic and documentary photography genres producing one-of-a-kind imagery. He has worked as a photojournalist, as well as a portrait and fashion photographer. Many of his images have been published worldwide as book covers and for other editorial and advertising uses. He has an extensive collection of unique, historic and artistic images of the Portland area from the late-1980s through beyond 2000, and he continues to produce art photography seeking depth and meaning beyond the surface of the visual, seeing the visual as reference to the realms of spirit, the unknown, and the human condition.
