About the Artist
I construct introspective textiles ranging from handheld, wearable to inhabitable. My materials focus on locally produced fibers, materials meant for discard, such as stitchable plastics and paper. I weave, cut and stitch textiles in 2 and 3D.
I was an apprentice and then production weaver, producing work for Carol Schwartzott and later Amy Putansu, who both sent work to major galleries. In RI, learned to use large, water powered, Jacquard looms.
Studied fine and book arts at USM, Buffalo State College and State University College at Geneseo.
I have built over 3 dozen Twig Garden Structures. They have been included in invitational and competitive exhibitions, grant funded and installed at art institutes, historic sites and public gardens. The round, spiral or tunnel shaped sculptures are often collaboratively constructed.
