Call for Artists
From Many, One: Visions of American Patriotism at 250
Brick Store Museum | Opening May 2026
As the United States approaches its 250th anniversary, the Brick Store Museum invites artists to take part in a groundbreaking exhibition, “From Many, One: Visions of American Patriotism at 250.”
This exhibition asks artists to explore how the idea of patriotism has evolved over the past two and a half centuries—and how it continues to shape our shared and individual identities today. Through your creative vision, we invite you to reflect on the ideals, contradictions, and personal meanings of being “a patriot” in America: past, present, and future.
The phrase E Pluribus Unum—“From Many, One”—reminds us that the American story has always been made up of countless voices and perspectives. This exhibition seeks to amplify a fuller chorus of American experience by especially welcoming submissions from artists whose perspectives have been historically underrepresented. Artworks will be paired with historic artifacts representing local Revolutionary history.
Artists are encouraged to consider questions such as:
- What does patriotism mean to you?
- How has the word patriot been used throughout history, and by whom?
- Who has been excluded or silenced under the label of “patriot”?
- How can art help reimagine patriotism for the next 250 years?
“From Many, One: Visions of American Patriotism at 250” aims to spark reflection and dialogue about belonging, identity, and the meaning of patriotism in a nation still defining itself.
Media: All visual art forms are welcome, including painting, sculpture, photography, mixed media, textiles, installation, and digital art.
