Belfast Arts Final Fridays Art Walks

Belfast Arts welcomes everyone to the first Final Friday Art Walk of the season on May 30 from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.! Over 20 downtown galleries participate in the Final Friday Art Walks in downtown Belfast, Maine. Look for the new blue flags! Come and enjoy the paintings, photography, sculpture, ceramics, etchings, assemblage, and fine craft of local Maine artists, all on display in Belfast’s downtown galleries. The Final Fridays Art Walk will also feature local performers, sharing a variety of talents including music and dance. Many of the galleries plan to provide refreshments for visitors. Join teaching artist Bridget Matros for an all-ages hands-on activity for the artist in everyone! Parents can get tips on family-friendly galleries to visit and how to enjoy the Art Walk with kids. Bus groups are welcomed. Free!
Highlights include:
Dina Petrillo of Belfast Bay Shade Company. With the simplicity and careful craftsmanship of American Folk Art, the instant illumination of Japanese Akari lanterns, and the flare of bold Italian botanical design, Belfast Bay offers fine art lampshades on upcycled and handcrafted lamps with a fusion aesthetic that will transform the spaces they inhabit.
Galerie Dufour at Eat More Cheese. Galerie Dufour at Eat More Cheese will feature recent fine art nude works by photographic artist Charles Laurier Dufour. Located at 94 Main Street, Eat More Cheese will feature Dufour’s photographic artwork at the Belfast Final Fridays Art Walks all season.
Northern Lights Gallery. Northern Lights Gallery will feature the work of seven talented artists each depicting their own unique voice on of the stunningly wild and infinite Labrador. Profound beauty is as much of a common denominator as the subject itself.
Gail Savitz of Front Street Pottery specializes in hand-built and wheel-thrown high temperature stoneware.
Maine Farmland Trust Gallery featuring artist Jill Hoy. Jill Hoy has become widely known in New England for her large, vibrantly colorful landscapes which depict Maine’s barrens, coast and villages.
Betts Gallery at the Belfast Framer. Betts Gallery is pleased to announce the premiere show of the 2014 season: 31 FLAVORS. Thirty-one local area artists come together in a group show featuring an eclectic menu of art- oil, graphite, collage, sculpture, printmaking, textile, watercolor, encaustic, photography, and more.
Tom Gaines Stonehouse. Tom Gaines paints in a post and beam stonehouse with skylights. He is currently working and showing paintings that are oil on canvas on wood panel. These paintings are part of a project called Rock Series. This series is abstract and based on the sky, sea, sand, and rocks of the Penobscot Bay.
Waterfall Arts. May 30 will be the final day of two art shows at Waterfall Arts: Print Open Call Exhibit, displaying all types of hand made prints by local artists in the Clifford Gallery; and Bridge: Young Artists Connecting, featuring work by the next generation of local artists.
