Creative Portland will Host its First Post-pandemic Group Show,
RESILIENCE, Opening May 5, First Friday Art Walk

PORTLAND, Maine — One of the ways Creative Portland seeks to support the arts is by
creating connections that strengthen the creative economy and by encouraging talent to
flourish. The team is excited to announce the return of its annual exhibition of local artists
and continue this popular cornerstone in the visual arts community.
RESILIENCE, Creative Portland’s 6th juried group show, will be open to the public for the
First Friday Art Walk on May 5 from 5-8 pm. All are welcome to come to this free event
hosted at the Creative Portland offices on 84 Free Street to see works by artists from the
Greater Portland area based on the theme of “resilience”. Light refreshments will be
provided.
“We encourage the public to attend the opening and to consider investing in a memorable
piece by a local artist. ‘Buy Local Art’ is our Spring mantra,” enthuses Dinah Minot,
Executive Director.
After a three year hiatus due to the pandemic, RESILIENCE also marks the symbolic
reopening of society and the arts globally. It’s a reminder of the drive to create and how
humanity uses the arts to process trauma, and to heal. You can expect to see a mix of
emerging and established artists using a variety of mediums and interpretations on what
inspires resilience, what demonstrates resilience, and how resilience impacts life.
