Applications invited for rare upcoming openings at Magic Pond Wildlife Sanctuary and Artists' Housing in northern Maine!

Magic Pond Wildlife Sanctuary is a 75-acre artist-owned and artist-appreciating long-term living opportunity in northern Maine, convenient to University of Maine Presque Isle, Mars Hill and Houlton. Three one-bedroom apartments and one large live-in studio  on the non-smoking property are at pond's edge and are available with priority rental to fellow writers, photographers and other creatives working quietly in environmentally safe media. Artists just needing a spiritually rich environment in which to rest and rejuvenate are also welcomed. Monthly rates are $650 + $140 utilities with 1 year minimum lease (2 years preferred). Caretaker lives on property for efficient snow-removal in winter and maintenance of long,  gentle trails meandering throughout the 75-acre paradise that is home to nearly every woods-loving creature indigenous to Maine!

Several openings are expected in 2022, providing an opportunity for new residents to create their own informal culture of mutually supportive neighbors with a shared appreciation of the vibrant Grandmother Spring that sustains Magic Pond and has inspired vivid-dreaming and life-transformations among artists for more than two decades.

Founded in 2001 by fine art photographer and playwright, Linda Griffith , Magic Pond offers priority consideration to rental applicationsd by fellow artists in an effort to provide a unque, nonstructured opportunity for neighborly friendships and mutual support to evolve for the enrichment of each resident's creative proicess.

Linda brings to her role as an arts-supporting landlord, a B.F.A. in Directing, M.S.W.in Clinical Social Work, Diplomate in Clinical Social Work and is the Founder of Philadelphia's reknown Wilma Theatre . She also founded the Orielle Women's Cultural Center in Omaha; is a Fulbright Scholar in acting; author of "Ghosts of the Second Wave: An Historical Account of the 1977 National Women's Conference;"  winner of Maine Short Play Festival Award in 2006 and 2007; Shaun Miller Memorial Award in Fine Art Photography; International Photography Forum Competition / Best in Photography multiple time winner; frequent fine art photography competition juror; instructor in creative process and ethical mandates in professional practice. A Jury of New York Museum Curators and Gallery Directors for  Art at the Millennium, in December 1999, named her "...one of the most talented emerging artists at the turn of the century and the millennium."

Current monthly rental rate is $650. plus $140. for utilities for a 1-year lease (2-year lease preferred). Applicants must have a sound credit history and proof of reliable income from a source sustanable from Magic Pond's remote location in northern Maine (2+ hours to Bangor, 4+ hours to Portland).
