(Yarmouth, ME) For the fourth consecutive year, artists will gather for a celebration of art and the out-of-doors. The 4th Annual Plein Air Festival in Yarmouth, Maine features a multitude of activities appropriate for all ages and interests.
Join Artascope in uplifting the community through a multi-day offering of creative outdoor activities. Take a kid-friendly printmaking workshop at the Yarmouth Community Garden, or try your hand at sketching from life at the Yarmouth Farmers Market. Locate your favorite artist on-location during our Plein Air Artist Tour. Browse and buy handcrafted artisan goods at our Fine Art & Craft Show. Attend a festive seaside party featuring artist Garin Baker as he paints live at a home in the Seaborne neighborhood of Yarmouth, Maine. Wrap it all up by going online to purchase a special piece of art of your own, all to support Artascope, a community art-making space in Yarmouth. The festival runs from Wednesday, August 16th through Saturday, August 26th.
Activities include a Fine Art & Craft Show on Saturday, August 19th from 10am-5pm located at the Bickford Outdoor Pavilion on Main Street in Yarmouth, ME, featuring 20+ artisans, music by local musician Diana Hansen and lunchtime food trucks. Plein Air Artist Tours on Saturday, August 26th (Morning Tour 9am-11am, Afternoon Tour 1pm - 3pm). Plein Air Artist tours will take place around town throughout the day. Attendees are encouraged to locate their favorite painters using our Plein Air Artist map which can be picked up at the Bickford Pavilion on Main Street. Lunchtime food trucks will be at the Bickford Pavilion from 11am to 1pm. Printmaking Workshop on Sunday, August 20th, 10am - 1pm at the Yarmouth Community Garden, 615 East Main Street. A great family activity that is appropriate for all ages and abilities. All proceeds benefit the Yarmouth Community Garden. Sketching from Life on Thursday, August 17th and Thursday, August 24th, 3pm - 6pm at the Bickford Pavilion, 1 Railroad Square during the Yarmouth Farmers Market. Try your hand at drawing during this fast-paced and exciting sketching experience. All materials will be provided and all proceeds benefit the Yarmouth Farmers Market. Plein Air Soirée on Saturday, August 26th, 4pm - 7pm, Seaborne Neighborhood, Yarmouth, ME. Our festival concludes with a festive Plein Air Soirée featuring Plein Air artist Garin Baker painting live. This year’s soirée will be held in the Seaborne neighborhood of Yarmouth. Live music and light refreshments included in the ticket price. Tickets are $30/per person. Baker’s newly painted masterpiece will join the other fantastic works of art available for purchase at the Soirée, and later in our online fundraising auction. All proceeds benefit Artascope, a nonprofit maker space located in Yarmouth, Maine.
