Seeking Musicians for a High-Stakes Tree Audition

  • March 27, 2026

Do you have what it takes to jam with "The Watcher"?

The Opportunity: We’re looking for a couple of intuitive musicians to help us conduct a sonic experiment with The Watcher. Meet George. He’s a magnificent 65-year-old Fir tree who stands at the heart of our mirrored Baltic labyrinth here at Goronson Farm in Scarborough, George doesn't speak English, but he does play music. Using a Music of the Plants device (bio-feedback technology), we can translate George’s real-time electrical impulses into MIDI music.

The Catch: George is a bit of a diva. Sometimes he’s talkative; sometimes he’s shy. He has his own timing, his own rhythm, and he doesn't care about your metronome. We need intuitive musicians who can "plug into" George’s frequency and see if there’s a Solstice Symphony waiting to happen.

The Project: Right now, this is purely an experiment to see if the humans and the tree can harmonize.

·      Phase 1 (Now): Unpaid practice /vibe-check. We’ll provide the snacks, the scenery, the extension cords, and the most peaceful practice space in Maine.

·      Phase 2 (Solstice): If the sessions are a success and George is feeling "chatty," we will

organize a ticketed Solstice Concert. In that case, musicians will receive a share of the gate proceeds!

The Ideal Candidate: Someone who understands that plants have their own timing. If you’re a musician who doesn't mind an unpredictable (and very tall) bandmate, we want to meet you.

What’s in it for you?

  • The chance to say you opened for a conifer.
  • A truly singular "collaboration" for your musical resume.
  • Rehearsing in a mirrored labyrinth (yes, really).

HOW TO APPLY: Shoot us a DM or an email with what you play and—most importantly—why you want to meet George. Let’s make some woodland magic! Maureengo2@protonmail.com
