Vibrant Visions of Maine: Exhibition by Artist Colin Page Opens at the Maine State House

AUGUSTA, MAINE – The Maine Arts Commission is proud to present Vibrant Visions of Maine, a solo exhibition by acclaimed painter Colin Page, on view at the Maine State House Gallery from August 11 through mid-January 2026.
Renowned for his luminous plein air paintings, Page captures the essence of Maine’s rugged coastlines, wooded interiors, and everyday beauty with lively authenticity. His canvases celebrate both the grandeur and intimacy of the state’s landscapes, offering visitors an experience that is at once timeless and deeply personal.
“These landscapes depict places I know well and enjoy spending time in,” said Colin Page. “The paintings are how I share my love of each location, and they are portraits of the people I share these places with. Color is used to create energy within the picture, and in an attempt to recreate the vibrant light of the outdoors. I hope for my work to be a celebration of life in Maine.”
Page studied painting at the Rhode Island School of Design and at the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art. His work has been widely exhibited in Maine and featured in solo and group shows nationally and internationally, including the Kaiping Museum of Art in China, the LA Natural History Museum, the Portsmouth Historical Society, the Laguna Beach Plein Air Invitational, the Center for Maine Contemporary Art, and the Cape Cod Museum of Art. His paintings are held in both private and public collections, including the Farnsworth Museum of Art. In 2019, he opened Page Gallery in Camden, Maine, which showcases his own work alongside that of contemporary artists.
“Colin Page’s work reflects the very heart of Maine. Its landscapes, its communities, and the everyday moments that make life here so meaningful,” said Amy Hausmann, Executive Director of the Maine Arts Commission. “We’re honored to feature his paintings at the State House, where legislators, staff, and visitors alike can experience firsthand how the arts deepen our connection to place and strengthen our shared sense of identity.”
Whether working outdoors on location or in his studio, Page’s work is a meditation on atmosphere, color, and light. His subjects range from sweeping landscapes to intimate glimpses of daily life, often reflecting his experiences as both an artist and a father.
The exhibition is free and open to the public, located on the second floor of the Maine State House, off the Hall of Flags in Augusta. Viewing hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
