A Maine Capital Fourth!
- Date: July 4, 2026
- Time: 02:00 PM - 04:00 PM
- Location: Augusta Civic Center, Augusta
On July 4, the Augusta Symphony Orchestra will present its third annual “A Maine Capital Fourth!” We’re excited to once again partner with the Augusta Civic Center for a festive afternoon celebrating community, family, and great music. Best of all, this is a July 4 event you can count on—rain or shine, indoors, and in the comfort of air conditioning — and no bug spray needed!
The event will take place Saturday, July 4 from 2:00–4:00 PM. Full concessions will be available, along with family-friendly activities, including an instrument petting zoo where children can try out instruments with the help of our volunteer musicians. Small ensembles will perform for the first hour, including the ASO Wind Quintet and the ASO Fiddlers. The ASO concert will begin at 3:00 PM. Featuring traditional holiday favorites, marches, and pops medleys, the orchestra will also be joined by musicians from other Maine ensembles to make this a truly special celebration. This year, the ASO will be joined by CODA Chorus, a community chorus based in Winthrop and now in its 58 year, making this 250th celebration of America bigger and better than ever!
The Augusta Symphony Orchestra is led by Conductor and Music Director Jinwook Park, a member of the Colby College faculty and Music Director of the Colby Symphony Orchestra. He also teaches violin and viola and founded and previously served as Music Director of the Kennebec Valley Youth Symphony Orchestra, bringing music education to Central Maine for many years. Mr. Park has served as Music Director of the Augusta Symphony Orchestra since 2021.
Admission is free, but donations are gratefully accepted to support the orchestra’s mission of making music accessible to all. Mark your calendar and join us for an afternoon of fun, family, and great music!
