The Augusta Symphony Orchestra will present a concert on Sunday, May 21, at 3 pm at the South Parish Congregational Church, 9 Church St, Augusta.

The Symphony will perform the Creatures of Prometheus Overture by Beethoven, the Bassoon Concerto in F Major by Carl Maria von Weber, and Beethoven’s famous Fifth Symphony. Conducted by Maestro Jinwook Park, the ASO was founded shortly after World War I and has had the privilege of sharing great classic and modern works of symphonic music within the central Maine region for 102 years.

The bassoon concerto will feature ASO bassoonist Chris Falcone as soloist. Chris attended the University of New Hampshire and McNeese State University, receiving a Bachelor of Music Degree in Music Education. After a brief time teaching, he put music aside to raise his family and build a career in manufacturing. 

In 2016, Falcone returned to playing music after a 30-year hiatus. He began playing with the Augusta Symphony at that time. Since then, he has also become a regular performer with the Colby Symphony Orchestra and is an occasional performer with groups at Bowdoin and Bates Colleges. Additionally, he has performed with the Midcoast Symphony, Casco Bay Winds, Mt. Desert Summer Chorale, and is a mentor player with the Kennebec Valley Youth Symphony Orchestra. 

He is a founding member of the ASO Wind Quintet and the Quarantine Wind Quintet.

Chris has been married to his wife Melissa for 36 years, and they raised two sons in the Augusta area. They are thrilled that both children have stayed near enough for frequent visits.
