- Time: 05:30 PM - 07:30 PM

Have you ever wanted to try your hand at old-school photography but didn’t have the opportunity? This 8-week beginner photography course is divided into two sections: camera work and darkroom work. Students will learn how to operate a film camera using manual controls and talk about how these controls relate to fine art and other photography. Students will then get an opportunity to develop their black-and-white film into negatives and print those negatives. Class dates: February 5, 12, 19, 26 and March 5, 12, 19, 26
Requirements: Access to a film camera with an option to work in manual mode including manual focus. We will provide 2 rolls of Kodak Tri-X black and white film (36 exposure 35mm) and Ilford Multigrade RC photo paper (25 sheets of 8” x 10”). Some cameras are available to borrow from Waterfall Arts. Please email in advance.
Topics will include: History of photography, cameras and lenses, film choices, lighting and light metering, composition, aperture and shutter speed controls, depth of field, film & paper characteristics, darkroom chemistry, printing techniques
About the instructor: David Schrayer has been taking pictures and working in a darkroom since the 4th grade and has been a fine-art and commercial photographer and instructor. He loves the magic that is analog photography and hopes to share that joy with his students.
