PCMF @ SPACE: Searching for Home
- Date: November 15, 2018
- Time: 07:30 PM - 09:00 PM
- Location: SPACE Gallery, Portland
Searching for Home explores the lush sonorities and sumptuous sonic world of the lower strings, and probes the relationship between music and identity. The viola and cello-focused program features recent works by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Caroline Shaw, Nico Muhly, and composer/cellist Paul Wiancko, a virtuoso viola duo by George Benjamin, and a set of playful Swedish folk songs. The concert also includes the world premiere of a new work for two violas and two cellos inspired by the Isamu Noguchi exhibition at the Portland Museum of Art and commissioned by the Portland Chamber Music Festival under the direction of their new Artistic Director, violist Melissa Reardon.
