Philadelphia dance company Subcircle to perform "Forget Me Not" at Engine
- Date: July 14, 2012
- Location: Engine, Biddeford

Engine, a community arts organization in Biddeford, Maine, presents a dance performance "Forget Me Not" by Philadelphia dance company Subcircle. Engine will offer two performances on Saturday, July 14, at 3:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Subcircle (subcircle.org) is a collaboration of choreographer Niki Cousineau and designer Jorge Cousineau. Scott McPheeters will be performing with Subcircle. All have ties to Maine, Niki's parents reside in Ocean Park while Scott McPheeters grew up in Biddeford Pool and attended Waynflete. Forget Me Not was created during a residency at the Maggie Allesee National Center for Choreography (MANCC) in Tallahassee, Florida which was partially supported by the Pew Center for Arts and Heritage. The Cousineaus began working on this material to the recordings of Niki's grandmother Helena Chapin. Helena's stories were inspiration for the piece, which explores the lost history that exists in each of us. Still in development, Forget Me Not was performed in June at Shiloh Baptist Church in Philadelphia, as a trio within a site-specific performance installation. As a dance maker, Cousineau digs beneath the strata of a dance concept and brings rich ore to the surface. One of the Cousineaus' hallmarks is the breathtaking way they transform space. - Philadelphia Inquirer
