RiceFest: Celebrating the Arts! Cobscook Community Learning Center invites Washington County schools to discover local arts, crafts and culture during American Craft Week 2012 in "recognition of the countless ways handmade objects enrich our daily lives and contribute to our national aesthetic and economy." Among the artisans on hand for demonstrations are: Mark Wren, stained glass Nancy Reitze, Root & Pack Baskets Ray Reitze, Carved spoons and canoe paddles Christopher Sockbeson, birch bark baskets Jaclyn Sockbeson, Passamaquoddy bead work Jeremy Frey, Passamaquoddy ash wood baskets Tim Beal, Timber Framer Tim Christensen, Potter Area schools may schedule field trips for 9-11:30 a.m. or 12:30-3:00 p.m. Thursday, October 11th Friday, October 12th Contact the CCLC at 733-2233 and ask for Michael x319 This celebration of our cultural heritage is part of RiceFest 2012 in honor of Wayne and Lorraine Rice who contributed greatly to the growth and development of the CCLC. Please join us on Saturday, October 13, noon-4:00 p.m., when the artisan demonstrations will be open to the public and their wares will be for sale. Plus pumpkin painting, apple cider pressing, and bread baking in our outdoor wood-fired oven. The day will also include a turkey dinner, cakewalk and Whoopie Pie contest. Musicians will play throughout the day in our outdoor bandstand. Come Join the FUN at the CCLC!
