- Time: 06:30 PM
- Location: Musee culturel du Mont-Carmel, Lille
Wesley McNair, Maine's Poet Laureate; and Louise Bourque, Edmundston Filmmaker at the Musée culturel du Mont-Carmel, Lille, Maine
The Musée culturel du Mont-Carmel celebrates the poetry of Wesley McNair, Maine’s Poet Laureate, and two short films by Edmundston filmmaker, Louise Bourque, during a special occasion called Two Events, One Fantastic Evening on October 31st starting at 6:30 pm in Lille. The cost is $5 to offset expenses (doors will open at 6 pm).
McNair will be in the St. John Valley the evening before for the Maine Poetry Express Tour at the University of Maine at Fort Kent where he will be joined by several local poets and authors. In Lille, he will offer a more intimate, one-on-one experience with a recitation of some of his poetry followed by a short discussion. Some of McNair’s books will be available for sale and signing before the reading or during intermission. Following McNair is the screening of two short films on themes of memory and loss by filmmaker, Louise Bourque. A discussion will follow. Originally from Edmundston, New Brunswick, Louise made her film career in the United States. Her work has been screened in film festivals worldwide.
Don Cyr, director of the Musée culturel du Mont-Carmel says “this is a rare opportunity to have two outstanding artists in the Valley. What a privilege to hear the poetry of Maine’s Poet Laureate in such an accessible way. We’re honored to have him share his beautiful poetry with us. We’re also excited to host Bourque’s short films on the U.S. side of the Valley. It’s especially gratifying to celebrate
