East Boothbay watercolorist Tony van Hasselt presents a month-long show at the Maine Art Gallery in Wiscasset beginning Thursday, August 2nd.  Join Tony for his reception on Friday, August 10th from 5pm to 7pm.
     van Hasselt, an elected member of the American Watercolor Society, has been painting across the globe for more than 40 years, and this show reflects his passion for plein air painting.  "My inspiration comes from being there on location, wherever it is.  This show represents a diverse range of subjects, from the coast of Maine to villages in Holland, France and Greece as well as the charm of our Southern states.  I'm a bit of a nomad, and hope that visitors will enjoy themselves in my wide open studio without walls."
     A native of the Netherlands, van Hasselt studied with Frank Reilly at New York's famous Art Students League, has written and co-authored art instruction books and DVDs, and contributes to both American and Dutch art publications.  He teaches creative watercolor workshops both in the United States and abroad.  More information is available on his website at www.tonyvanhasselt.com.
