Please join the Poland Spring Preservation Society and friends for the unveiling of their new bronze installation tribute to Togo...

Time Magazine's "Most Heroic Animal of All Time", on Saturday, Sept. 17th, 2022 at 11:30am during the Heritage Days Festival!

See more information about this remarkable canine hero on their website at:  https://polandspringps.org/togo/

- and any associated links listed here and online.

Togo's world famous musher, Leonhard Seppala, retired him to Poland Spring after his famous "serum run" ("The Great Race of Mercy") to save the children of Nome, AK from the diptheria epidemic of 1925 at the age of 12, after running the longest leg by far (261 miles) of a 674 mile relay by 20 different mushers and sled dog teams who accomplished this great feat in only 5 and a half days.

There at the kennel of Leonhard's friend and colleague, Elizabeth Ricker, a line of Seppala Siberian Huskies was started with Togo himself and are coveted as some of the best sled dogs in the world to this day.

If you don't make it to the unveiling event, please consider a visit to the Poland Spring Resort to enjoy their fabulous facilities, visit the museum, and hike the "Togo Trail", which ends up just outside of the building at the site of this heartfelt tribute to Togo and "Sepp"!
