Development Grants Help Arts Organizations in Need

*Artists and organizations seeking relief funding for the COVID-19 emergency should visit the agency COVID-19 Resource Page. It has information about Maine Arts Commission support as well as support options from other organizations.

The Maine Arts Commission is working with state and federal officials in an effort to navigate the COVID-19 health emergency. We are in conversations about the availability of relief funds for the creative sector and are trying to do what we can now to assist you as quickly as possible.

Given the uncertainty of the next year, we anticipate that fewer organizations will be in a position to apply for Project Grants. Therefore, we encourage arts organizations to consider applying for Organizational Development grants which are designed to support organizations in capacity-building projects. Funds from this grant have traditionally addressed issues like strategic planning, financial management, and marketing – and still can. But the grant is broad-based enough to also assist arts organizations with navigating an economic downturn caused by Covid-19.

The Organizational Development Grant is the Maine Arts Commission's best current option for delivering funding to help arts organizations adjusting to economic issues caused by COVID-19. Please consider applying to this grant if this is what you need at this time.

If you have questions, please contact Julie Richard at 207.287.2710  or Kerstin Gilg at 207.287.6719.

Additionally, grant deadlines have been extended to April 2, 2020.

Deadline dates are updated in the graphic below:
