I'm not an professional artist, I'm an 88 year old Maine resident and veteran that paints miniature acrylic wildlife and local landscape subjects. I have been drawing and painting for years and work at it almost everyday. I enjoy gifting these to friends, relatives and VA volunteers and clinic personnel. As a kid during world war 2, I would watch my dad's sister draw cartoons with nibs and India ink for hospital coloring books for the Red Cross. I remember she would let me try to copy her drawings on scrap paper. Wildlife and landscape painting on miniature canvas and mat board.

Katie has an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Goddard College. Her book, Finding My Reflection: A Caregiver’s Perspective on Life Lessons Learned Too Late, is a collection of essays related to her late husband’s battle with ALS. Her history is comprised of jets, aircraft carriers, students, theatres, and courtrooms. She lives in Maine with her menagerie - two dogs, one daughter, and three cats – one of whom is named Kevin.

I started art therapy in 2020 and was shocked when different parts of me came forward to draw. I was diagnosed with dissociative identity disorder. mostly use acrylic paint but I have tried mixed media and water color. I look forward to trying oil.

I have been an active photographer since the age of 16. I photographed for the Navy while in the service, and continued photography first as a part time business, until I opened a full-service studio in Scarborough specializing in portraits, social and corporate events primarily in New England, but also throughout the US and internationally. My work has been published in numerous books and periodicals.

At the onset of Covid, my family moved to Bangor, and since that time I have been celebrating the beauty of Northern Maine through landscape photography.I have been a Nikon user since the early 1960's, growing through film into digital processes. I still love the art form, learning about it, and trying to expand my skillset.

I enjoy pigments, metalic elements and inspiring scenes. I've been dabbling more lately with bright abstract mixed media.

I am an oil painter from East Boothbay ME and a United States Navy Veteran. I graduated from Northeast Institute of Industrial Technology (Boston, MA) where I studied architectural drafting and design. I also hold a BS degree in technical business from New Hampshire College. I am a member of and exhibit paintings at the Boothbay Region Art Foundation, Damariscotta Rivers Arts, and the Maine Art Gallery. I am also a member of the Plein Painters of Maine mid-coast chapter.

My artwork is based on nature and iconic or architecturally significant buildings. Completed paintings take on the many forms and color of natural scenery and architecture as seen in the daily observations of my environment. The well being of the body and mind is sustained by nature or products of the earth and I endeavor to express the beauty of the natural world with oil paints to show a personal connection to nature and architecture with art.While my painting process is mostly representational of a subject, I am strongly influenced by site observations that may ultimately change color, proportion, and form of the subject. I desire to bring the outside in by creating the natural occurring beauty of nature and architecture through art. I occasionally work with pastels as well as gouache.

I have been painting for several years. I started with acrylics, and moved towards oils. My subjects are usually nature and animals, whatever I feel like painting.

An emerging artist and native of Union Maine, Julia spent 30 years in the U.S. Navy. Recently, her travels led her back to Maine. Currently residing in South Berwick, with her husband Edd and their collection of pets.Julia’s interest in art and creativity began when she was young, by watching her mom Agnes knit, sew, crochet, cane chairs, cook, and many other forms of craft work. Although her career in the military did not foster a creative spirit, the desire to express herself through art and creativity never left her. Upon moving to Maine, Julia picked up her paintbrush again, now exploring painting with acrylic medium in a variety of subjects with landscapes and flowers as favorites.

Hello, I am Rob Jones, a 22-year active duty Veteran turned art enthusiast. I have been exploring many media and forms of art since 2020 and have become increasingly interested in photography, watercolor painting and weaving as my primary media. I truly enjoy photographing the world around me, predominantly landscapes, and then recreating the images in watercolor and/or fiber. I tend to gravitate toward the vibrant colors of sunrises/sunsets, the moodiness of a storm and other awe inspiring natural imagery that both challenge me as a young artist and provide an interesting and substantial pallet of colors to choose from. My works are currently exhibited to family and friends via text and on display on my dining room and studio tables.

Lynnalbert Leger is a distinguished bas-relief sculptor known for his intricate and evocative works carved from Monson, Maine black slate. Before his artistic journey, Lynnalbert served three years in the Navy as an Assault Boat Coxswain, followed by a year aboard the USS Puget Sound during the Vietnam War, where exposure to Agent Orange left a lasting impact on his life.

Upon returning to civilian life, he discovered solace in sculpting, finding a deep connection to the medium of slate. His attention to detail and craftsmanship are perhaps best exemplified by his 3-foot by 3-foot carving of Lewiston's city seal, which still hangs in the city's Administrator's Office—a testament to his skill and dedication. Today Lynnalbert's works, which depict architectural elements, nautical scenes, and floral motifs, continue to captivate and inspire, blending his profound life experiences with his artistic vision.

I ventured into the creative arts in my sixties, first dabbling in hand building pottery on which I painted colorful shapes. Additionally, my wife and I created wearable art garments from alpaca on which I painted designs. I found inspiration in using my hands to create something appealing. I began to realize that the creation of the decorative shapes brought me more satisfaction than constructing the respective piece. I began by learning the basics of representational art. However, the more representational painting I did the more I had the desire to break out from real world constraints and paint imaginary shapes and colors. Abstract art subtly pulled me in. From the world surrounding me, I see shapes manipulated by my mind’s eye. I want to paint those shapes with colors promoting gaiety and light heartedness in the viewer’s imagination. Inspiration comes to me when I watch someone gaze at my painting and then smile. I paint in oils and acrylics on canvas.

Hi, my name is Jesse Loring. I’m a Veteran and a member of the Penobscot Nation. When I sit down to create, I try to free my mind and let whatever’s going to come out come out. As far as the media I use, I use pretty much anything that’s put in from of me. Currently I’m finding it fun to play with acrylics and paint. When thinking of subject matter, I typically tend to create thought provoking paintings. I don’t want it to be clear what you’re looking at. Ultimately, I love that when someone views what I’ve done I’m never going to see it the way they see it and they’ll never see it the way I see it, and I think that’s beautiful, the possibilities are limitlessly .

I am 58 years old. I've been creating since I was a kid. I work mostly with acrylic paints on canvas but I dabble in all mediums. I do abstract art with a focus in relating to nature and wildlife.

I am a US Navy Veteran, I served 1981 to 1987. As a Penobscot Nation Tribal Member and currently living on Indian Island, I have returned to my D90 Camera for some of my creative work. I do not typically take one kind of subject matter; it all depends on what catches my eye at the time. This is the first time I have ever put my photos on canvas. If I need to have a theme for my work, it would be "This Catches My Eye".

I mostly portray fantasy and surreal subjects. Also landscape an portraits.I work in mixed media, but mostly acrylic on board.

I have started exploring the world of ultraviolet light. I have been painting with fluorescent acrylics and pigments. The paintings submitted are my first attemps to merge conventional pigments with fluorescent paints.

Since these first attemps, I have progressed into visual representations of the world of quantum physics. Imagining shrinking down to the size of a particle and what that world would look like.

My name is Nicole Rezentes, I am a documentary/journalistic photographer. I like to shoot candid moments, whether while on a drill status as a National Guardsman or in public every day. Some themes in my work are typically genuine emotions of the subject and building a relationship with the subject, hence my photography business name, "Hi Moments." Every conversation starts with a, "Hi," or "Hello," and I love to connect to people.

I work in a variety of mediums as a means of art therapy from acrylics to watercolor to fiber arts in wool and cross stitch. Subject matter also varies but has themes of meaning and contemplation.

During the day, I work as a trauma therapist with a private practice that includes a substantial number of military veterans. Having experienced my own personal traumas during my military service, there are times when this privileged, healing work with others results in the activation of old pain and burdens. By night, I dance with color and texture to make art that works its way around the edges of suffering and loosens its hold. My art is about power and intensity coming together to create vibrant energy.

I’m new to painting as an art and as therapy. I was brought to gel printing by my therapist and instantly realized that art therapy certainly is for me. I had made an off-the-cuff statement about the colors of 1980s clothing and was inspired to put those colors onto the gel plate. With the unique texture of exam table paper, and using silver for the pull color, I got the amazing lightening effects in the background – all unintentional. This is my “Happy Accident”.

I work in a vast array of mediums to include watercolor, pastels, acrylics, mixed media and oil. My work is mainly nature inspired abstracts based primarily on from time spent living in Alaska and along the coast of Maine. I am a native Mainer. As a pianist since the age of 5, I have always loved expressing my artistic ability through music. While taking a Pastel Painting class at Husson University in 2018, I found my love of creating visual art. In 2023, I picked up my first paint brush. Since then, I have painted numerous acrylic paintings such as lobster boats, lighthouses, and animals. When not painting, I love talking to people around the world as a Ham Radio operator.

I'm a visual artist by choice and dedication. My journey spans over three decades, bridging the 20th and 21st centuries. After residing in Mexico, I returned to Maine in 2012 with a mission: to express the true essence of this rugged Maine. Critics describe his works as having a "topological quality infused with an expressionist feel. Salazar’s innovative techniques infuse dynamism into his Maine land and sea work." I concentrate exclusively now on abstract works in series on Stonehenge, created in series with themes that herald the last U.S. decade and this decade, and by creating video collaborations that air on National Networks. I am an Army veteran living in Augusta, Maine. I enjoy painting (mostly plein air) in both watercolor and oil. Living with so much natural beauty in my own backyard is a gift and opportunity to create beautiful landscape art. I especially love painting elements with a commanding presence such as mountains, rocks, boats, architecture, and strong shadow and light patterns. I teach watercolor painting to beginners, and also write and illustrate children’s pictures story books with three books published through Maine Authors Publishing.

Born in 1945, Murad grew up in New Jersey, the oldest son of a manufacturer. After spending three years in the U.S. Army Infantry, '64 - '67, he attended a major state university where he majored in philosophy of ethics. Murad has had a lifelong interest in history, particularly that of the Holocaust and aviation in the European theater of WWII. For many years he was a craftsman of international reputation of one-of-a-kind 'art knives'. Murad Sayen is also an oil painter based in Maine whose job has been to tell stories with his brush about what it means to be a human on earth in the 21st century. By portraying ordinary people doing mundane things in everyday places, Murad's hope is that the observer will be aware of the preciousness of every moment in life; for in every moment there is a source of knowledge that can give us a sense of peacefulness.

I am a U.S. Marine veteran, I hold a bachelor of science and a bachelor of fine arts. I am currently working both as an artist and a intern forester. My art practice is in photography and painting. I practice in both film and digital photography. I draw and paint in graphite, watercolor, oils, and gouache.

I love nature, being outside, observing wildlife and humans. Often observing human interactions and behaviors. It is fascinating to see all the paths in life, from birth, death, pain, love, good, and evil. In all this there is something exciting about life and capturing the pain, emotions, and feelings of the human experience in art. While emotions start as sensations in the body, feelings are generated from our thoughts about those emotions. As a photographer and painter, it is capturing that very real quality about being human. Viewing and capturing the rawness of being human, that is my inspiration.The elusive quality of pain, emotions and feelings can transform a portrait in just a matter of seconds. I strive to convey that sense and use my own pain, emotions and feelings in my art.

I am a completely self taught painter. I have been a woodworker for over 40 years, I got interested in painting about 10 years ago. I have Parkinson’s Disease and it has greatly reduced the number of paintings I can produce.

I'm a Vietnam War Veteran. I enjoy working with water colors, acrylic, and colored pencils. I also enjoy drawing birds, mostly owls, cats, wolves, log cabins, and I use photographs and pictures for inspiration. This piece was fun to do. In my spare time I love to canoe and race competitively throughout the season.

I retired from the U S Air Force as an E-7. In retirement, I decided to take some painting classes.

I have been painting with acrylics for a year. My main area of focus is buildings, because of the architectural interest.
